Welcome!

I’m grateful you are here. I share the pretty stuff here. The decor, entertaining, recipes and shopping. To find the real stuff, follow me over on my Substack, The Savoring.

I grew up in Indiana in the 70s and 80s. My mom was arrested, not once but twice, when I was a teenager. Once for driving the getaway car for her boyfriend after he robbed a bank at gunpoint. Helpful note, wear a mask if you don’t want to be arrested shortly after the evening news airs a couple hours later.

She married that bank robber and went on to sell cocaine out of our home to, it turns out, a LOT of people. They were both arrested when I was seventeen. I quit high school, got a full time job , my own studio apartment and a rottweiler named Turbo. I went to night school to graduate on time with my class but my principal, Mr. Head, wouldn’t let me walk with them at graduation. I’m 53 and still holding a grudge.

I have two Jewish sons, a gay son and a Catholic husband. We have two dogs and four chickens and live in a lovely little black and white farmhouse on a hill in California. It’s important to me that you know I designed my black and white farmhouse house in 2012. Why? Because Joanna Gaines didn’t get a show until 2013. I was first. Just saying.

My desire to achieve a perfect life for my family by being nothing like my own mom was likely, at least in part, what led to my leukemia diagnosis in August of 2023. That and the mean girlfriend I had in high school who looked at me after watching Love Story and said, “It’s always the pretty one so it will be you not me.” Compliment or curse. You decide.

And yet … I laugh. A LOT.
