Whether you are hosting a large Super Bowl party or just a small gathering of friends and family, Super Bowl Sunday is a great excuse to throw up festive decor and enjoy some good football grub and games!
When and How to Watch Super Bowl LVIII
The Super Bowl is in Las Vegas this year on Sunday, February 11th. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 pm ET. Pregame coverage starts at 2 pm. Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers. You can watch it all on CBS this year.
Evertything You Need to Host a Super Bowl Party
Football parties are all about the food and football and some competitive betting games for the crowd. Below is everything you need to host a fabulous Super Bowl party this Sunday!
Super Bowl Party Food
Below are some of our favorite Super Bowl foods. The best part is everything can be made in advance.
FRENCH ONION DIP
You could buy pre-made dip or use a packet and mix it with sour cream. OR you could make this easy French onion dip. Go on, I dare you. But be warned, once you make this recipe, you will never serve it any other way.
WHITE BEAN CHICKEN CHILI
While I love a good old fashion tomato based chili, this healthy chicken and white bean chili is one of our favorite football Sunday meals. Garnish with a dollop of sour cream, some freshly shredded cheddar and avocado.
GLUTEN FREE SLOW COOKER CARNITAS
These are so easy and so good! And they are gluten free so everyone can enjoy them and you don’t have to worry about separate meals for anyone who might have gluten issues. Serve with rice, beans, chips, salsa and simple guacamole. (P.s. make sure the tortillas and chips are gluten free.)
SAUSAGE & TURKEY SLOW COOKER CHILI
This slow cooker chili has turkey and sausage combined with fresh veggies, roasted tomatoes, chiles and beans. Serve with Fritos Scoops, cornbread, chopped onions and shredded cheddar. Tip: Serve it Indiana style, which means over boiled macaroni.
ROLO CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
Voted The Best Cookie Ever (by my son’s 8th grade class in 2019). But they seriously are! Browned butter and Rolo’s make these cookies standouts!
TIP: You have to make the dough the day before.
Tips for Hosting a Super Bowl Party
- Seating is Important
Have two separate sitting areas. One for those who watch the game and one for those who don’t. There is nothing more annoying than trying to watch the game with a bunch of people talking nonstop and not paying attention to the game.
Equally it sucks to be shushed nonstop if you are the talker who just came for the food, betting games, drinks and commercials. - Keep the Decor Simple
I try and get things I can reuse year after year, and that are simple. A banner, a few foam fingers, and some small footballs are perfect. Green, white, and light brown to emulate the colors of the field. Here are my simple go to decor items for my Super Bowl gatherings.
TIP: Get balloons the morning of that are the colors of the two teams. Green, black, and white groupings and red, black, and white groupings this year.
- Betting Games
Guessing Game: Download Hedge Your Bets. Set your buy-in price and everyone pays in the beginning. Each entrant answers these 25 questions and the winner is whoever has the most correct answers at the end of the game. Ties are solved by rocks paper scissors.
Football Squares: Everyone loves the football squares game! Download Football Squares. Have your guests bring cash to buy squares. Even those who don’t love football will love this game! Not sure how to play? Get the instructions here or here!
